About Melanie
Melanie has lived in the Comox Valley since 2006, when she and her husband moved from Victoria to raise their family. She quickly became an enthusiastic member of the community, coaching youth sport and volunteering in community events. She has a great appreciation for the beauty and quality of life that the Valley has to offer, and a firm belief in the importance of contributing to the place she loves.
Melanie has a degree in Geography, with a focus on Urban Planning and a post degree diploma in Accounting. She currently works at North Island College as a Financial Analyst.
Melanie’s pragmatic and principled approach provides a strong foundation for effective and collaborative decision making. With her strong financial background, she has a broad understanding of budgeting needs and financial constraints, delivering a careful, collaborative approach.
She represents the City of Courtenay on the CVRD Board of Directors, the Comox Valley Water Committee, the Comox Strathcona Regional Hospital District Board, the Comox Valley Recreation Commission and the Comox Strathcona Waste Management Board.
She’s devoted to ensuring that Courtenay is economically, environmentally and socially sustainable for years to come, and enjoys being active outdoors with her family.
